RUBiS ZAMBIA OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES FOLLOWING KOBIL AND SAMFUEL ACQUISITIONS

Lusaka, Zambia 26th May 2021… RUBiS Energy has today unveiled its new look and identity across the country following a successful acquisition of Samfuel and Kobil oil marketers.

The move precedes a decision by the company to operate under the single RUBiS brand in a process that includes rebranding its stations and upgrading its service equipment.

Commenting on the rebrand, RUBiS Energy Zambia Managing Director Vincent Fleury said the rebrand is a key testament and symbol of the company’s belief in the economic potential of Zambia and the ability of its people. The company is investing $5 million to $10 million per year to rebrand, to modernize and to acquire new sites and it will be a constant investment for the next 4 years.

“Besides the acquisition of Kobil and Samfuel, we will continue to invest heavily in the market through modernization of our existing retail outlets into state-of-the-art service stations. Our network of over 39 service stations is strategically and widely located across the country thus playing a key role in delivering quality products and services to all Zambian customers in a safe environment. We shall also be providing a fuel card system that gives motorists total control of their fuel-related expenses through our RUBiS Card, offering convenience and efficiency when making payments at our retail outlets,” said Vincent Fleury.

Moving forward, RUBiS seeks to leverage on its integrated distribution chain to increase market share in the region and expand its footprint through leases, land purchase and acquisitions. This will not only help fuel Zambian homes but also the economy, a goal in line with the government’s ambition for an improved quality of life for all Zambians.

Speaking during the launch, RUBiS East Africa Managing Director Jean-Christian Bergeron said, “Rubis has a vision for Zambia and that vision is to become the preferred brand of customers on the move by providing quality products and services with convenience and efficiency while focusing on safety and environment”.

“Besides a new name and logo, we are upgrading and modernizing our service stations, and we will soon be adding our innovative Rubis Express shop concept, providing a world-class convenience shopping experience to save you time and money. This is in addition to our Rubis Card which provides a convenient and secure payment solution for both fuel and shop purchases, and a fuel discount to thank you for your loyalty.” Said Bergeron

RUBiS maintains that the fresh identity matches the new realities, business model, customer segments and preferences and the evolving petroleum sector; enabling it to focus on key areas that will see it remains relevant to the diverse and current consumer needs.

In a bid to unlock new opportunities, the oil marketer also seeks to deliver quality products and services to other business sectors in areas such as industry, agriculture, aviation and road infrastructure development.

The refreshed look has since been rolled out in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda where RUBiS has a significant controlling stake in the petroleum distribution sector.
